What is rudraksha tree?

Rudraksha tree, also known as Elaeocarpus ganitrus, is a large evergreen tree found mainly in the Himalayan region of Southeast Asia, including Nepal, India, and Indonesia. The tree is considered sacred in Hinduism and is highly revered for the spiritual significance of its seeds, known as Rudraksha beads.

Rudraksha beads are the dried, seed-bearing fruit of the Rudraksha tree and are believed to possess mystical and healing properties. They are often used in malas (prayer beads) and worn as a form of protection and to enhance meditation and spiritual practices.

The Rudraksha tree is known for its large, broad leaves and small, white flowers that bloom in clusters. The tree can grow up to 60-80 feet in height and has a wide canopy that provides shade and shelter to wildlife.

In Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Shiva meditated under a Rudraksha tree for thousands of years, hence the name "Rudraksha" which means "Tears of Shiva". The tree is also associated with the planet Mars and is believed to promote inner peace, clarity of mind, and protection from negative energies.

Rudraksha trees are protected and cultivated in sacred groves in many parts of India, and efforts are being made to conserve and propagate these trees to ensure their survival for future generations.
